Temporal Mandibular Joint

Temporal Mandibular Joint is the long name of TMJ. The temporal mandibular joint is the joint that connects your jaw to the rest of your skull. It's what controls the extent of your jaw's movement.
When something goes wrong with that joint, the problem is also generally called TMJ. If someone says they have TMJ, it means their joint isn't working properly. This can cause pain or headaches, and sometimes you will hear a popping noise when you open your mouth wide.
Although treatments for TMJ began over 20 years ago, it can still be difficult to treat persistent TMJ problems. If you have problems, then try to find a dentist who specialized in TMJ.
