Allopecia areata is a form of allopecia in which the hair falls out in only certain places on the scalp. Not total baldness. The hair falls out in one or more patches.
Honestly, it might be better if it all fell out. Having partial baldness on your head would probably be more difficult to live with than total baldness from a social perspective.
