The causes of dandruf aren't completely understood even today. However, how it works is pretty well understood as well as how to treat it. Unfortunately, it seems that it may be instigated by any number of different and inconsistent things. But it's possible that the underlying cause may be a type of yeast that lives on your head. Dandruf may be a result of this yeast growing out of control. But it can usually be controlled pretty well by using some sort of medicated dandruf shampoo.
