When cateracts first develop in the eye, they only blur your vision a little. So you can counteract the effects with measures such as glasses and better lighting. But this just counteracts the effects of the cateracts. It doesn't do anything to the cateracts.
Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to the cateracts except have them surgically removed. And since surgery is a drastic measure, you usually won't do this until your vision has deteriorated to the point that none of the other treatments help enough for you to see effectively any more.
