What's Wrong With Me?
Parkinsons Desease
Posted By: Dave Date: Tuesday, October 4 2005, at 10:22 a.m.
Parkinsons Desease is typically something that happens as people get older. It's uncommon for a young person to get it. It's a brain disorder that affects muscle movement. The most notable feature is a deficiency in dopamine, a neurotransmitter. And this is what causes muscle function to deteriorate.
People with Parkinsons often have trouble walking without help, if they can walk, because their muscle coordination is very weak. However, it affect many other muscle functions as well.
Some, if not much, of the research on Parkinsons Desease has been about finding a way to get the brain to produce more dopamine.
