A migrain is called a headache, but it really isn't like any other type of headache. The symptoms are much more than just an aching head and an aching head often isn't even described as one of the primary symptoms by sufferers.
Really painful headaches are sometimes called migraines, but in fact they're not. The term has just come to mean a really bad headache for some people. But a true migrain headache involves very strange symptoms like visual and auditory hallucinations.
Oliver Sacks, a prominent neuropsychologist wrote a book on the subject which is worth the read. See the link below.
