Acute Sinusitus

Acute sinusitus typically last no more than a few weeks, although it can be a miserable few weeks. It is sometimes the result of an infection in the sinuses, in which case you will need to take antibiotics to get rid of the infection. However, when there is no infection it will usually go away on its own.

You can take decongestants to relieve some of the congestion, but the congestion can actually get worse if you take them for more than a few days at a time. So if your congestion goes from better to worse, then stop taking the decongestants, as difficult as that might be to accept.
