Chronic Sinusitus

Chronic sinusitus is somewhat of a mystery to physicians. It's unknown exactly what causes it and it's unknown exactly how to treat it. One thing is for sure - it can be very difficult to live with.
It's possible that chronic sinusitus is an infectious disease, but it may not be. In fact, it may be that in some cases it is and in others it's not. People with respiratory problems like asthma or allergies may be more prone to getting sinusitus.
As for treatment, different treatments are effective for different people. Unfortunately, for some people no treatment is very effective. If it's an infection, then antibiotics may resolve the problem, but many times they don't. In other cases, steroid treatments may be the solution, but steroids pose potential problems in themselves.
