Irritable Bowel Syndrone

Irritable Bowel Syndrone, or IBS, is a mysterious disease, if it's even a disease. A large part of the problem may be that people with IBS just have an hypersensitive colon. It may be overstimulated in situations where a normal colon would not.

One thing that may cause IBS to flare up is eating. Not just eating, exactly, but eating certain foods. Normally, eating can cause the colon to become active and start moving waste through the system. With most people, certain foods can cause more movement than normal and lead to an urge to use the bathroom, perhaps with a runny stool. The foods that cause this can differ for different people.

For someone with IBS, a stimulating food like this may cause the colon to become extremely hyperactive and lead to distress. If you suffer from IBS, it may help to try and identify what foods may cause it to act up and then siimply avoid those foods. Spicy may be especially difficult.
