Down Syndrone

Down Syndrone is a surprisingly common disorder. There are hundreds of thousands of people with Down Syndrone in the US alone.
Down Syndrone is caused by a genetic abnormality, although there are other factors that can contribute to it. Age of mother is one factor. Although most older women who have children do not have a child with Down Syndrone, the likelihood of it happening is greater as a woman gets older (more than 35 or 40).
If you have a child with Down Syndrone, then you should find out what kinds of support groups are available in your area. This will help ensure that you can provide your child with the best possible environment in which to develop.
