Cirhosis of the Liver

The liver is a resilient organ that can recover from damage in many cases. However, cirhosis inhibits its normal functioning and prevents it from healing. Once cirhosis develops, it won't go away. However, the damage can be halted once it's recognized. In some cases, it may be as simple as a change in lifestyle, and in others it may mean drug treatment.

Since the #1 cause of cirhosis is alcohol abuse, the simplest way to avoid cirhosis of the liver is to avoid drinking alcohol in excess, or even avoid drinking it at all. If you develop cirhosis as a result of drinking alcohol, then stop drinking alcohol immediately and never drink it again. That's vitally important to stop damaging your liver even more.
