Phototherapy is an option for people whose psorisis won't go away with simple topical treatments. Phototherapy involves exposing the psorisis lesions to ultraviolet light for a short period of time several times a week. This can go on for several weeks before the lesions get better.
The ultraviolet light inhibits skin cell growth, which allows the lesions to heal. Usually, this has to be done at a doctor's office. However, if long term UV treatment is necessary, you may end up doing it in your own home.
