Rhumatic Fever

Rhumatic fever can develop if strept throat is left untreated. It has been estimated that less than 5% of people with strept develop rhumatic fever. If it does develop, it usually manifests about 3 weeks after the strept infection.

The onset of rhumatic fever can involve, aside from fever, joint pain and rashes on the arms and legs.
