It's true that cortisone shots can help the pain of bursitus, but yes they can also cause problems of their own in the future. So it's best to do that as infrequently as possible.

It's possible that a softer mattress can help if you sleep on a fairly firm mattress now. But if you have back problems, then a softer mattress may make that worse.

It's hard to find something that helps sometimes, and everyone is different. So if ultrasound helps, then try to keep doing that when you need it.
