My answer:

People with aspergers wish to be social and lead "normal" lives, however, it is often too difficult for them. Being in social situations is ofen so stressful that they cannot cope and prefer to remain isolated in their "homes" where they feel comfortable and secure and most importantly, uncensured by prying eyes and critical thoughts.
